The PPL(A) (Private Pilots Licence) course serves as the foundation of your flying journey. At Fly-LSA, we offer an incredibly high standard of private pilot training with our dedicated team to help you along the way.
Upon completing this course, you will receive a UK CAA Private Pilot's Licence, enabling you to fly single piston-engined light aircraft. This licence also allows you to add ratings such as the IR(R) and night rating, further enhancing your flying experience.
The PPL(A) course requires students to fulfill a minimum of 40 flight hours under professional instruction. Out of these, 10 hours must consist of monitored solo flights, with one flight being a solo navigational exercise (QXC).
Additionally, students must complete a total of 9 invigilated ground examinations along with a radiotelephony oral examination. Lastly, a final skills test will be conducted by one of the CAA examiners on our team to ensure you meet all necessary standards.
Prior requirements:
While there is no upper age limit, the minimum age for a licence to be issued is 17 years old; however, you can begin your training before reaching this age.
Furthermore, the PPL(A) course requires you to hold at least a class 2 medical certificate. We have an onsite, registered AME who will be able to help you with your medical certification.

Fly-LSA is based at London Oxford Airport, an airport widly known in the aviation community for the quality of pilots who train here.
Open from 0630 - 2230, the aerodrome is equipped with full ATC and Radar coverage which gives students invaluable experience on the radio.
In addition to this, because of the high volume of traffic, students are forced to adapt to traffic patterns and traffic monitoring - a valuable skill to learn from the very begining of your training career, and a difficult thing to master if training from a smaller airfield with less traffic.
Our club facilities are designed to provide a professional and friendly environment for our students.
We have a large, well equipped, club room where students and members prepare for their flights, socialise and relax, alongside our four briefing rooms and AME's office.
In addition to the above, Fly-LSA offers an outside airfield viewing area.
Come for a visit, we would be happy to show you around.
We have large fleet of well maintained Piper aircraft which are perfect for beginners and advanced pilots alike.
Pipers are known for their reliability and training resilience, they are easy to fly and have been used to train pilots since the 1960s.
