For the IR(R) IMC course you need to already have a Private Pilots Licence (PPL(A)) and a valid medical certificate.
In addition to the above, before you can start your course, you need to have at least 25 hours of PIC time logged since you completed your PPL(A) course.
The only additional equipment you will need for the IR(R) course is the study material which will help you prepare for the ground theory test.
There are two exams to take throughout the duration of the course.
The first one you will have to take is the ground theory exam.
The second and final exam you will have to take is the skills test conducted by one of our CAA examiners.

Generally, the IR(R) IMC course takes students a few months to complete.
It is important to note that, whilst the minimum flying requirement for the course is 15 hours, many students exceed the minimum requirements which could extend the time frame of your course.
In addition, you will have to study for your ground theory examination on top of your ground schooling and flying lessons.
